Boosters Offer Up to Ten $500 Scholarships to Avon Athletes

The Avon Athletic Boosters Club reminds Avon High School seniors and their parents that applications for its 2013 scholarships are due by April 30. The Boosters are pleased to announce the significant expansion of this Athletic Scholarship Program. Since its inception in 1979, the Avon Athletic Boosters Club has proudly provided financial support for Avon's athletes and athletic programs, including two $500 scholarships given annually to graduating seniors. The Boosters have always highly valued these scholarships because they simultaneously support both athletic and academic achievement.
Starting in 2012, the Boosters Club has decided to increase the number of annual scholarships to ten, reflecting the larger population of athletes in Avon as well as the larger numbers pursuing education after graduation. Booster Executive Committee Member Bob Puzak, who chaired the effort to enhance the program, said, "The success of athletics in Avon is a reflection of the incredible efforts of so many outstanding people. The Athletic Boosters is proud to have the opportunity to recognize up to ten of these individuals - those who have enabled the success of Avon's teams and who make our teams more like family."
Any Avon High School senior who participated in interscholastic sports at Avon High School for at least one full season as an athlete, manager or trainer can apply for the Booster Scholarship. The Scholarship Committee encourages ALL of Avon’s sportsmen and sportswomen to consider applying. The judges consider not only athletic performance (varsity letters, wins, records, championships, and the like) but equally weight the athlete’s character, extra-curricular & community activities, and participation & support of Avon athletics. Application requires a short essay on the topic: “How has participating in sports helped fulfill my goals and affected my future objectives?�

2012-2013 Athletic Booster Memberships Now Available

Avon Athletic Booster memberships for the 2012-2013 school year are available now. With the active and passionate support of so many individuals, families and businesses, Avon athletics was able to accomplish things last year that none of us could even imagine only a few years ago. Because of our incredible members, the Athletic Boosters Club was able to support Avon's teams and athletes in an amazing variety of ways. Click here for 2011-2012 Highlights!

Lottery Reminder
The lottery tickets enclosed in your newsletter are based on the Ohio Lottery Pick-3 drawing held daily. The tickets are good for the entire month and only cost $5 each if you play the 7:30 PM drawing, $10 if you play the 12:30 PM and 7:30 PM drawings. You win $50 if your exact number is drawn and $20 for the number before/after yours.
Additional Note: Do you want to play a certain ticket number each month? Do you want to play each month, but have trouble remembering to play? Arrangements can be made with Michelle Lance to pay for 3 months, 6 months, or even one year at a time! The lottery is an easy and fun way to support Avon Athletics!
